How It Works

The Science of Memory

At PhilU Jewellery, we blend sentiment with science. While our jewellery carries your most precious memories, the technology we use to hide them inside is a feat of modern optical engineering.

How does photo projection jewellery work?

Photo projection jewellery utilises advanced micro-photolithography technology to engrave a high-definition image onto a tiny central crystal lens (approx. 5mm). This convex structure acts like a slide projector; when light passes through the curved lens, it refracts the beam to magnify and project your nano-engraved memory onto any surface.

3 Ways to View Your Hidden Photo

You don't need special equipment to reveal the secret inside. Here are the three methods to view your projection:

1. The "Peep" (Naked Eye) This is the most intimate way to view your memory.

  • Hold the pendant close to your face.
  • Look directly into the convex front side of the central stone with one eye.
  • You will see your image clearly magnified inside the gem.

2. The Camera Lens (Phone Screen) Perfect for sharing the surprise with others on social media.

  • Open the Camera app on your mobile phone.
  • Gently touch the convex front of the pendant against your phone’s camera lens.
  • The image will appear clearly on your phone screen.

3. The Projection (Using a Torch) Best for viewing in a dark room to create a romantic atmosphere.

  • Turn on the torch (flashlight) on your phone.
  • Hold the flat back of the pendant against the light source.
  • Aim the light at a plain white wall in a dark room.
  • Note: Because the light projects through the lens, the image on the wall will appear mirrored (flipped).
